Comics Society (Singapore) was formed on 8th January 2007.
Comics Society (Singapore) was the brainchild of established local comic artist Mr Wee Tian Beng, and originated from a vision to create a sustainable and vibrant local comics industry capable of producing high quality work for the global market.
Drawing membership and volunteers from comics enthusiasts in Singapore and support from the creative industry partners and government agencies like Media Development Authority, National Arts Council, Singapore Civil Service Club etc, over the years, the society has been able to organise annual gathering events like Singapore ComiFest and comic publication projects like “Dream Walker”.
The society continues to strive to create a sustainable eco-system and friendly environment that will promote the comic culture in Singapore.
The minister for Information, Communications and the Arts and Member of Parliament, Mr Baey Yam Keng, was the presiding Guest-of-Honour at the opening ceremony of Comics Society, and Mr Wee Tian Beng assumed the position of Society president.
